Casa Grondona (Remedios-San Pedro)

As a vanishing point of Remedios street and located at the beginning of San Pedro street, this enormous building also overlooks Lentini and Triana streets.

The architectural complex was designed in 1857 by the provincial architect Manuel de Oraá, as a new reform over another building that had stood there for several centuries. 

Oraá, with his academic classicism, proposed an architectural complex formed by two volumes of one and two floors. On its façades we observe a regular arrangement of large openings framed in magnificent local stonework. The ornamentation is austere, highlighting the enormous sash windows and wooden shutters on the upper floor. The plinth, also made of stonework, is another defining element of its sober classicism. 

Inside, the spacious patio stands out, with porticoed galleries and the stone staircase that rises from this space to the upper floor.

This building housed the famous Cuasquías hall, an important venue in the recent musical history of the capital.
