Shipwrecks
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Memory · Subcategory: Historic sites
Around the bay of Las Isletas dozens of skeleton vessels rest alongside part of their merchandise, some of which have been located while many others haven't. Indeed, shipwrecks have been found that date from the 16th through to the 20th century. It is worth remembering that the port of El Confital and Las Canteras beach, in Modern Times known as the port of Arrecife, also used to take in some of the sea traffic in the city of Las Palmas, with the added problem of lying in an upwind position, subjecting the boats to strong winds and currents.
