The headquarters of the former Junta de Obras del Puerto, currently known as the Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas (Port Authority of Las Palmas), was located on the Santa Catalina dock, just behind where the iron canopy was erected in 1915 that until 1965 facilitated the boarding and disembarking tasks of ships anchored in the bay. It was a unique building with a neo-Arab historicist design, whose construction and authorship are unknown to us.
