Luis Vernetta and the First Pharmacy

The pharmacy opened on Remedios street in an old manor house that existed at the time over half of the plot now occupied by a superb building marked with the government numbers 10 and 12, where until recently the well-known Muebles Lisón was located on the ground floor. The place where the pharmacy office was established on Remedios was a manor house owned by the Count of la Vega Grande.

Relocation from Remedios to Fuente-Muro:

Manuel Sigles, who had opened his pharmacy in 1850 in the manor house that formed a single block located in Fuente-Muro, died without descendants in 1864, a reason that places his widow Clara Vernetta Bachiarely selling or donating (a circumstance that has not been verified) the Fuente 1 manor house to her nephew León Vernetta Fallótico, since the neighbouring one at Muro 1 had been sold by her husband four years earlier. Indeed, the Fuente-Muro manor was actually two independent buildings. The building suffered a fire on Sunday 14 January 1981, so its interior is currently refurbished. León Vernetta, born in 1842, married Elisa Cominges Pineu in 1866 and resided in the manor with their children, from whose line descends one of the best-known branches in the city and to whose descendants and successive heirs the two houses, formed as a single block, passed, where it remained with different pharmacists until the fire of 1981.
