The Auditorium and Congress Palace holds many cultural events, including the Canary Music Festival. 

The theme of fortification was behind the inspiration of Óscar Tusquets when designing this complex. It was built at the northwest point of Las Canteras beach with the collaboration of Agustín Juárez and the sculptures of Juan Bordes. Tusquets linked the image of the lighthouse with a fortification set upon a volcanic rock plinth facing out over the Atlantic Ocean, sheltered from the strong winds, and protected by its own stone structure, in the same way other fortresses historically did along the coastlines of the Canary Islands. [...] A grand trellis providing access to the building is linked to traditional Canary architecture along familiar historical lines. The materials and textures that define this whole structure are concrete blocks, wood and stainless steel, adding to its appearance as a commanding fortress looking out to sea.
