At number 61 Triana Street we find this magnificent building created in 1878 from the study of the master builder Francisco de la Torre, a great builder, sculptor and outstanding stoneworker.

The two-storey building presents itself with marked classicist style lines, with symmetrical order in the eight aligned openings framed by excellent basalt stonework. The façade, which also includes some elements anticipating eclecticism, stands out for the balcony with a cast iron parapet that closes the central openings and for the finish of the original stone balustrade with flowerpots, unfinished at the ends. The ground floor has been highly altered to accommodate various businesses. 

Inside, also transformed, the classic courtyard is no longer present. Now lighting and ventilation are provided through small skylights.

Casa Cardoso is a clear example of the finest domestic architecture of the last quarter of the 19th century built in the city and which housed the most prosperous families of the island's commercial bourgeoisie.
