The garden borders of the Diocese (cathedral choir)

Since 1960 along this side of the calle Obispo Codina the four sides making up the former cathedral choir area were placed here. They are made in an elegant Neoclassical design, by religious sculptor José Luján Pérez. The origin of this piece goes back to the start of the 19th century when members of the cathedral Cabildo commissioned the artist to build a choir area to replace the original one which was stuck in the middle of the Via Sacra in the Cathedral. Following a series of negative vicisitudes, the stones on the aged choir pit have since been used to border the gardens of the Episcopal Palace, bringing a hugely important cultural feature back to the city.
