The Obelisk , by Emilio González Déniz (1951), is a novel without nostalgia, with humour and love, that entrusts an obelisk with the exaggerated and theatrical account of a hectic weekend at the end of '81.

"So Tere, after consulting with her companions, decided to appropriate Pedro’s exclusivity. One of the afternoons when they were alone in the Obelisk square, the girl decisively took the hand of the inexperienced beau, who did not consider it appropriate to withdraw it. Down the street they went to end up in Doramas park, which at such hours, dusk and poorly lit, enjoyed magnificent impunity.
