The Patio de los Naranjos (Orange tree courtyard)
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Leisure · Subcategory: Green spaces
The connection between the temple and the Patio de los Naranjos is via the Puerta del Aire, to the south. This is a Renaissance design with a curved arch over pilasters with Corinthian capitels on the doorjambs and a rustication set in the soffit. The pillars hold the entablature with the arquitrave, frieze and frontis. The Courtyard is in an "L" shape, and follows typical designs of the orchard turned into surrounding buildings, with wooden balconies. On one of the sides the balcony has been replaced by a stone doorway. The pillars sit on stone bases and have wooden slabs. The balcony is held up by wooden struts also. A stone stairway leads the way upstairs.
