Between January and August 1926, what is considered the first feature film of Canarian cinema, The White Glove Thief , was filmed. It is a crime film whose plot revolves around the theft of a necklace during a costume ball and the subsequent pursuit of the villain, named Malcome.

The film, shot almost artisanally, is the work of José González Rivero, who took care of technical direction and camera operation, and Romualdo García de Paredes, who was responsible for artistic direction. The former’s work extended to aspects such as lighting, camera, developing, editing, and printing copies; while the latter handled production, adaptation of the script, writing of intertitles, and acting.

For its filming, locations in Santa Cruz, La Laguna, Tacoronte, Los Realejos, and Puerto de la Cruz were used. Scenes were shot in places such as Hotel Quisisana, the Mirror Hall of the old Tenerife Casino, Finca España, Monte de las Mercedes, Camino Largo, Hotel Taoro, and Rambla de Castro, among others.

Its premiere took place at Teatro Leal in La Laguna and at the Recreational Park of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 6 September 1926.
