Tamadite (engravings)
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Memory · Subcategory: Archaeological sites
On a hillside that closes the Afur ravine, above the beach of Tamadite or Tamadiste, in an elevated area facing east, we find an archaeological site equipped with a series of magnificent engravings made using a pecking technique and with a "U"-shaped groove section.
This is a surprising type of engraving, since the incised technique and the circular tendency motifs are not very abundant on the island of Tenerife, as they are on El Hierro and La Palma, where they are associated with cults dedicated to the Sun.
