Tireless researcher of the history of Canarian literature, he stood out as a specialist in the work of Viera y Clavijo, the Enlightenment and Canarian poetry. He carried out conservation work and studied the historical and documentary heritage in archives such as the Crown of Aragon, General of the Indies or the Provincial Historical Archive of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (of which he was director). Among his works, Antología de poesía canaria, Breve noticia histórica de las Islas Canarias and Viera y Clavijo stand out.
