This cinema was located in the Tafira Baja area. It was designed in 1949 by architect José Luis Jiménez Domínguez for owners Ángeles Martín and Manuel Medina.

The architect proposed a regionalist style building with a marked neo-Baroque influence evident in the undulating lines of the façade, which was later modified, losing prominence in favour of simplicity by adding an extra door at the entrance and removing the rounded edges of the central section. Inside, a rectangular floor plan housed 286 seats.

Quilmes Cinema was officially inaugurated on 3 March 1951 with the screening of the musical drama Argentine Serenade directed by Irving Cummings, made in 1940, starring Don Ameche, Betty Grable and Carmen Miranda.

The cinema enlivened the social life of Tafira Baja, as a true neighbourhood cinema, for more than twenty years. Quilmes closed its doors in January 1974, although the building remained standing for several more years, converted into a furniture warehouse. It was later definitively demolished and a new residential building was constructed on its site.
