The original project consisted of four anthropomorphic birds, of which there are currently three, placed on tall iron posts. The figures have primitive features and evoke, like totems, a magical-religious nature. These features are reinforced by the material used and its treatment: roughly carved wood. The installation is part of the Tides (1992) project, a collaboration between the Town Councils of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Palma de Mallorca, through which three Canarian and three Mallorcan artists created pieces to be placed in public spaces. In the case of Las Palmas, only the present sculpture has survived.

About the author: Palma de Mallorca, 1954. Sculptor and painter. In 1973, [Alfons Sard] began his training at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he held his first solo exhibition in 1974. Later, in Palma, he participated in the activities of the Taller Llunatic group and held a solo exhibition in 1979, returning to exhibit at the 4 Gats gallery in 1982. From 1983 onwards, he began his sculptural work in iron, later moving towards the use of the most diverse materials, within a process marked by a personal playful intentionality. He has created various sculptural installations in Mallorca and, in 1989, held a new exhibition at the Lluc Fluxà gallery in Palma, where, in 1991, he made a sculpture for the Parque de la Mar, since when he has combined his artistic activity with teaching.
