[It is a building] adapted to its function as a capital city hotel nestled between two streets near Las Canteras beach. Although its façade did not alter the street’s appearance, the architect used a distinctive element for differentiation by incorporating a solution that allowed an open structure combining lounges and commercial area: a series of five fluted pillars shaped like mushroom heads that traversed the first two floors of the building framing the recessed main entrance area, allowing vehicle access up to the door in a vaulted zone. To build the pillars, the architect designed an in situ formwork system reinforcing the expressive character of the concrete.
