Sansofé Hotel

The Sansofé Hotel [now Hotel Exe Las Canteras], located on the Las Canteras promenade, took into account the location as a determining factor of the solution to be adopted, in accordance with the regulations established on the first line of the beach. The hotel could not reach height, as it would cast shadows on the sand. Fábregas designed two volumes joined by a semi-open courtyard, which on its coastal façade was set back in elevation. This achieved a considerable height while eliminating the problems of projected shadows. The hotel was characterised by an exterior cladding defined by relief pieces that produced chiaroscuro effects on the façades, highlighting the level of detail characteristic of the period.
