The Church of San Antonio de Padua

The convent church of San Antonio de Padua was built between 1951 and 1956. Its architectural style was in line with the period, featuring typical Canary elements of the time. It has an ample central nave and a domed presbytery with rounded stained glass windows at the top. In the middle stands a main alterpiece with a large statue of Christ. RIght at the top is the statue of San Antonio in a kind of alcove. In the left hand nave there is an altarpiece dedicated to the Virgen de Lourdes and another to the Virgen del Carmen. This convent church, as is the church of San José en el Puerto, is run by a small community of Franciscan friars.
