Journalist, playwright, essayist, and writer, María Teresa Prats de Laplace (1913-2004) has been a valuable contribution to the culture of the islands, where, besides her bibliographic work, Épocas y hombres (1950), Alguien dice no (1960), etc., she achieved one of her greatest literary accomplishments when she founded and directed the magazine Mujeres en la Isla , in which she created a space for the female voice within the island literary scene. She declared her editorial:
“It offers its pages to all women: Canarian women residing inside and outside the Archipelago, Spanish and foreign, so that they pour into them all that is beautiful and elevated in their souls.”
