Pino Ojeda (El Palmar de Teror, Gran Canaria, 1916 – Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 2002). Love is the central theme of this author's poetic production, who also cultivated short stories and theatre. Her first poems appeared in Mensaje , a magazine that would publish her first book, Niebla de sueño , in 1947. She continued publishing in Mujeres en la isla and Gánigo until her second book, Como el fruto en el árbol , appeared in 1954, the year she was a finalist for the Premio Nadal with the novel, still unpublished, Con el paraíso al fondo . In 1964 she won the Premio Tomás Morales de Las Palmas with La piedra sobre la colina and in 1987 published her next work, El alba en la espalda . In 1991 she won the Premio Rielo de Poesía Mística with El Salmo del Rocío and in 1997 her Antología poética was published.

Besides being a poet, she was a painter, gallery owner, and ceramist, and defined herself as a creator of memories, moments, instants, and small things. Her art should be placed on the path that separates two opposing territories: that of time and that of space, that of poetry and that of painting. Her commitment to creation was constant and permanent.

“Creation – she said – is a magical thing, which arises suddenly, and you don’t know why. It arises from a feeling, struck by emotion, by mystery. It is magic. Creation is something wonderful.”
