Saulo Torón Navarro (Telde, 28 June 1885 - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 23 January 1974), was a Gran Canarian poet who, along with Tomás Morales and Alonso Quesada, became one of the leading figures of Canarian poetic modernism. He belongs to the so-called Lyrical School of Telde, alongside other figures such as Fernando González, Montiano Placeres, Luis Baez, Patricio Pérez and Hilda Zudán, among others. His intimate poetry is characterised by a simple tone and a lack of artifices.

From a very young age, he began collaborating in the press, demonstrating what would be a brilliant career as a poet. Sea and heart, he said, were his only and great treasure.  Monedas de cobre , his first book, is key to understanding the island postmodernism more inclined to introspection. His second book El caracol encantado , with a foreword by Antonio Machado, is also an exceptional collection of poems.

His life, he said, was like a small boat,

with no sails

but my thought, modest and simple,

I enjoy it alone

singing on the shore.
