Agustina González y Romero (1820-1897) had the nickname of Perejila, and was a popular figure around La Vegueta at this time. His improvisations have been incorporated into Canary popular culture. Néstor Álamo compiled his poetry and said of it “he felt forever under the breeze of the Muses”.

«Roque Morera, the extremely witty drunkard,was going along the street drunk out of his mind when he bumped into Doña Agustina. He was obviously oblivious to the presence of the lady, so she requested in rhyme:

- Don Roque Morera on this pavement so vast, would you mind letting me past?
To which he quickly improvised his famous replly:
- To the lady poet, I will willingly allow it»
