Modernist route: 08. Néstor the modernist
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Routes · Subcategory: Modernist route
Néstor is not an essentially modernist painter, even though he took on some of these traits for his works. In an exhibition such as this one we cannot afford not to dedicate a few lines to certain aspects of his production that link him to the most original facet of this movement, namely: his intention of inserting social life into the whole of his art; from architecture through to the smallest of daily artistic objects (Cirici Pellicer).
Néstor's modernist style -just like all Canary modernism- is deep-rooted in European cosmopolitism, at least as far as his artistic displays are concerned, and it would be absurd to limit Néstor's works to mere regionalist criteria, let alone just island criteria.
