Ventura Doreste

The adventure of the word in search of the human being is that of Ventura Doreste (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1923 - La Laguna, 1987). We are faced with a determined attempt to observe literature in its universal dimension from the personal and receptive perspective of an islander. He was the author of a select literary work ( Veintiún poemas and De Borges y otros ensayos ) and a promoter of the post-war generation of Canary writers through initiatives such as the Colección para treinta bibliófilos and Antología cercada .
«I still look and caress,
from the sway of the air,
your different and rough skin,
your same and soft skin,
my little homeland.»
