Single-family House Paseo de Chil No. 183

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Civil architecture · Year: 2010 · Authors: Eva LLorca

Situated on a plot located on Paseo de Chil, in a kind of intermediate step between the upper city and the lower city of Las Palmas, from where you can enjoy views over the urban platform by the sea, is this architectural work designed as a private residence.

It was designed in 2004 by architect Eva Llorca, skillfully solving the limited space of an irregularly shaped plot, which was a determining factor morphologically, as it was already excavated at street level and had a huge slope with the rear boundary.

The structure is developed through two floating containers open at the front to take advantage of the excellent views and closed on the sides to offer privacy.

The garden, where the vegetation is very important, forms a unit with the rest of the construction which develops in parallel horizontal bands.

The stepping of the ground plane, the triple height and the position of the floating containers in relation to the platforms and views, together with the central void, make the house an open and fluid space in all directions; capable of generating different environments, landscapes and modes of relationship between them, as well as with the near and distant contexts.

The work was completed in 2010. It was the winner of the first edition of the Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre Architecture Prize in the category of "New Residential Work".
