The Hotel Escuelas are tourist complexes attached to the Consejería de Turismo y Empleo del Gobierno de Canarias (Canary Islands Government Ministry of Tourism and Employment) where, in addition to providing quality hotel service, future professionals of the sector are trained here through Dual Vocational Training, improving the skills of people already working professionally in these fields. 

The Hotel Escuela of Santa Cruz, located on San Sebastián avenue, opposite the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, occupies a building designed in 1992 by architects Leopoldo Tabares de Nava and Juan Manuel Palerm. The technicians addressed the three uses that this type of building had to have: a four-star hotel, a hotel school and a student residence for the school itself. Differentiated uses, but at the same time related. 

The main entrance, on San Sebastián avenue (with its curious structure resembling a huge ship chimney), is situated at a higher level than the rest of the premises. The encounter with the ravine was resolved by the construction of various types of walls, on which each of the independent bodies of the building are located, all at different heights, connected by free interior spaces.

Gardening has primary importance throughout the complex, attempting to reference the nearby Viera y Clavijo park and the ravine’s own course. 

The hotel complex has 57 double rooms, five junior suites, two suites and an imperial suite; as well as four meeting rooms, panoramic terraces, swimming pool, restaurant and cafeteria. 

The Hotel Escuela of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was inaugurated in 1998.
