Luis Benítez Inglott (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1895-1966) was a lawyer, legal advisor to the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city council, and a modernist poet by training. He was also involved in politics and journalism, writing for publications such as La Pluma , Vértice , España and La Rosa de los Vientos . From 1924 he devoted himself decisively to journalism, publishing articles on literary and artistic criticism in newspapers like Diario de Las Palmas . During the Spanish Civil War he was imprisoned for criticising some military officers for their corruption in the press, precisely as editor-in-chief of the magazine Falange . As a political prisoner he took part in the collective work Antología de musas cautivas . He belongs to what has been called the generation of Canarian intellectuals. His only published book is Poemas del mundo interior (1965), written in the 1920s, a work of marked intimate and reflective character.
