The Casa África Mediatheque is a documentary and multimedia centre specialising in African themes, with a special focus on the sub-Saharan region. The Mediatheque is also a resource centre for research and its mission is to facilitate access to and dissemination of information and to collaborate in knowledge creation processes. Its bibliographic and audiovisual collection (CD, DVD and other digital formats) consists of documentation about Africa generated both from the continent itself and from the West, covering, among others, the following disciplines: Cooperation and Development, Human Rights, Governance, Legislation, Gender, Economy, Environment and Natural Sciences, Public Health and Medicine, History, Geography, Literature, Art, Cinema, Music, Philosophy, and a vast collection of dictionaries in African languages. This collection is progressively expanded to become a reference resource for researchers and people interested in African cultures.
