The Canary Navy Museum

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Cultural spaces · Subcategory: Museums

The Canary Navy Museum is an offshoot of the Madrid Navy Museum, and its creation dates back to 2002. It recounts the history of the former Canary Maritime Area since its creation in 1940, as well as all sorts of other navy business related to the Canary Islands. It is located at the Canary Military Arsenal.

Its collections come from vessels and naval installations which are, or used to be, found in the Canaries. The largest exhibits are located on the outside, including the cannons of the Crucero Canarias, anchors, propellers, mines, as well as the only hyperbaric chamber to exist in the Canaries up until the end of last century.
