Restless writer and journalist, Rafael Mesa y López (1885-1924) settled in the city of Paris for ten years, but travelled extensively through Spain, Argentina and Uruguay, thus increasing his reputation as a bohemian. In Paris he created the character of most of his works, Pedro Trujillo. He was the founder of the satirical newspaper El galeoto . Besides some translations and publications about his Parisian experiences and even an anthology of Castilian poets, Mesa y López is famous for his novel Las luces de la noche sin fin , written during his convalescence in a hospital after being wounded in the First World War.
