Noir novel route: 02. calle Agustín Millares

The building for law firm Suárez Smith was one of the old houses in Vegueta which still maintained its colonial style façade, but on the inside some architect or another (who would be tagged as modern or original) had set about inserting a load of panes of glass and lumps of metal, turning a beautiful structure into something like a methacrylate butterfly.

It was a cool, narrow pedestrianised street. It was eight o'clock when Monroy read the little plaque with S&S LAWYERS written on it. But her didn't feel like being punctual and decided to go for a drink in the tea shop opposite. The shop (small, clean, minimalist and smelling of such things as sandalwood and bergamot) was practically empty, and the waitress (a short, young girl with a tanned face splattered with piercings) came right over with the coffee for Monroy, who was pleasantly surprised to find a little biscuit with it.
