Noir novel route: 07. calle Triana

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Routes · Subcategory: Noir novel route

He had started mingling with the early morning bustle along the calle de Triana, which reminded him so much of so many other streets in so many other cities he loved. The rain had eased off, and passers by had appeared like snails to take over the pavements once again. All beautiful cities have a street like this one, where new and old are mixed together, where old ladies with discreetly dyed hair criss cross with younger girls with brightly coloured tinted hair; where the same junkies begged to the same housewives, who had a few cents prepared for them as they called them by name and reasoned with them to change their lifestyle; where street salesmen and musicians are on every other alleyway while people go in and out of the shops, either saying hello with complete indifference or ignoring eachother with great familiarity. Streets like these were what he was looking for when he plucked up the courage to go into town.
