This bust on a stone pedestal represents the figure of Reverend Mr Jesús Cabrera Medina, parish priest of the San José church between 1944 and 1983. Don Jesús, as everyone called him, was a native of Fuerteventura and is still fondly and admiringly remembered for his organisational skills and his enormous enthusiasm and involvement in the social and human affairs of his entire parish, marking an era in the religious history not only of the El Toscal neighbourhood but of all Santa Cruz. 

The statue, made by the Güímar artist Ángel Bermúdez Galván, was placed in 1986 in a small garden located on the outskirts of the popular San José parish.
