The House of the Griffins, so called because of the use of this mythological animal in the decoration of the main openings, lacking data to confirm its date of construction, can be dated by its style and characteristics to around 1870 and was possibly carried out by a technician of the Romantic classicism generation. Its façade stands out for the profuse use of stone, the segmentation of the shafts, and the use of classical forms and elements (capitals, bases, etc.). It is very rare to find in Santa Cruz such complex stone ornamentation as the crafting of the griffins that appear on its façade. This gives this building, located in the very commercial centre of Santa Cruz, great uniqueness.
