The Pedro García Cabrera Foundation is a non-profit cultural organisation founded in 1993, whose main function is to be an open forum for debate and analysis of the major problems affecting the world, Spain and the Canary Islands.

It bears the name of Pedro García Cabrera (Vallehermoso, La Gomera, 1905 - Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1981), undoubtedly one of the most outstanding Canarian poets of all time. His decisive participation in the avant-garde movement of the late 1920s led him to be considered one of the most original voices in the Spanish literary scene. A poet of nature, the sea, love as a primal force, and social commitment, he lived through an extremely turbulent period of Spanish and European history (Civil War and Second World War). Over time, his work has become essential to understanding the surprising literary phenomena of the avant-garde period.

The Foundation that bears his name is headquartered at Calle del Castillo no. 43, in the same premises as the Círculo de Bellas Artes, an institution closely linked to the avant-garde world of the magazine Gaceta de Arte , of which Pedro García Cabrera himself was a prominent collaborator. Here talks, courses and various activities are regularly organised to promote debate about contemporary society.

The fundamental objective of the Foundation is to carry out activities related to the promotion of research and thought in different fields such as culture, economy, politics, the environment and science; as well as the study and dissemination of social issues, especially those concerning the Canary Islands.
