Francisco Morazán Monument

This bust, located on Anaga Avenue at the junction with República de Honduras street, is dedicated to Francisco Morazán (1792–1842), a Honduran military and politician who governed the Federal Republic of Central America during the turbulent period from 1827 to 1838, at a time when the union of the five states that today form Central America was attempted. He was also president of Honduras, El Salvador, and Supreme Chief of Costa Rica, where he was captured and executed.

The sculpture was made in 1982 commissioned by the Santa Cruz City Council. Made of artificial stone, it is signed on its back by Henríquez.
