Located in the Tamaraceite Sur park, opposite the Alisios Shopping Centre, this installation titled Corrientes is a large-scale sculpture designed to be the new landmark for the urban development of this neighbourhood in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Its sculptor, Juan E. Correa, has already left us brilliant landmarks in the city, such as the works Moebius and Pórticos . On this occasion he goes much further with an installation destined to become a reference for urban art in Spain.

Juan E. Correa himself explains: "It is born at thirteen metres high, then it compresses to three metres in relation to the terrain itself, to then explode again and envelop the void inside that central square".

Correa emphasises that it is a "unique intervention, very committed to the models of sculptures in current spaces, where sculpture is used as an element and a route, in which people can be inside and participate in the work". In the artist's words, the sculpture seeks to recall the "landscape that defines our ravines", where reeds grow and abound. From there comes the idea for the sculpture, for which he has chosen the name Corrientes , because the trade winds, he explains, "are one of the characteristics that represent the landscape of Gran Canaria".

"When talking about the wind, we would have to talk about the action of the wind", because it is the only way to represent it. "That is why I have used this proposal as an element related to the square, with constant movement, since the square, the texture, everything around the sculpture is in motion. Everything moves and the viewer can contemplate all that work in motion and can interact with it, because they are inside it".
