This sculpture is the work of Ana Luisa Benítez, and is situated in the Don Benito Park in the district of Schamann in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The great novelist Pérez Galdós is represented in a highly realistic style, sitting in a relaxed manner while reading a book. This is a tribute to the human side of Galdós, far detached from the more idealized representation dedicated to him by sculptor Victorio Macho in 1921, which can be seen outside the Pérez Galdós Theatre.
