A new example of the sculptures that pay tribute to the greatest of the writers born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The bust is the work of multidisciplinary artist Teo Mesa (Guía, Gran Canaria, 1948) and was donated to the city by the Fundación Pérez Galdós (Pérez Galdós Foundation) in October 2000.

Far from the monument proposal by Pablo Serrano, located in Plaza de la Feria, which shows a Galdós in an almost defiant, very determined attitude, Teo Mesa opts to present the writer in a thoughtful pose, an impression reinforced by the hand supporting the head of a middle-aged Galdós. It is a little-known sculpture, being almost hidden in a corner of the gardens of the Hotel Santa Catalina.
