Carlos Navarro Ruiz (1860-1947), physician, politician and chronicler of Las Palmas. He created the Sociedad de Fomento y Turismo (Society for Development and Tourism) which promoted the progress of the island and reached the direction of the newspaper La Defensa . He published Sucesos históricos y Páginas históricas , as well as his Nomenclator de calles y plazas de Las Palmas.
