José Miranda Guerra (1885-1941) was Professor of Economic Geography at the School of Commerce of Las Palmas and a great expert on the fiscal and economic peculiarities of the Islands, which he reflected in the local press. Some of his books are Communications and Transport and The Free Ports of the Canary Islands.
