La Loza

Located in an industrial estate on the outskirts of the city, we find this old warehouse built in 1961. Almost sixty years later it was completely refurbished inside by the team of architects Evelyn Alonso Rohner and José Antonio Sosa, for a company dedicated to the purchase, import, export, distribution and sale of all kinds of machinery and vehicles.

The interesting aspect of the intervention by these technicians inside the building is that it exposes the original structure, based on relatively short spans, slender pillars and edge beams, which forms a hypostyle space. To this grid are added elements that enhance its diaphanous effect and visual elongation. The undulating translucent polycarbonate partitions contrast with the existing concrete structure. The cubicles containing the offices are distributed along the floor, whose openness is interrupted by courtyards through which sunlight enters.

In short, it is an area of just over 7,000 square metres organised in an open, non-occlusive way, and with the removal of partitions and multiple additions, results in an organisational layout through an architecture more algebraic than geometric.
