Electric Tower of the Plaza Nuestra Señora de los Reyes

Located in the southernmost part of the Vegueta neighbourhood, this tower for the laying of electric light cables was built in 1900, one year after the public lighting of the city of Las Palmas was inaugurated. Its purpose was to provide wiring to this urban area.

The building, of marked modernist style, has been attributed to the architect Fernando Navarro. It is a small tower whose base body of limited dimensions corresponds to a battlemented volume with a pronounced cornice on corbels and openings with triangular lintels. 

Today completely out of use, the tower is surrounded by buildings that have nothing to do with the urban environment in which it was originally erected.
