The Elder Science and Technology Muesum

The Elder Science and Technology Museum is a site dedicated to scientific displays. It has a planetarium, cinema hall and different exhibition halls, and also organises a wide range of activities for the general public. 

Construction works on the naves [promoted by Miller and Co.] started in 1895. Its builders, both the Elder's and all other installations built in that sector, followed designs that were typical port constructions in the south and west of England. The master stonemasons Manuel Pérez and Agustín Sánchez took plans to be approved by the only municipal architect of the time in Las Palmas, Laureano Arroyo. If the artifice of the Miller company was Scotsman Thomas Miller, the artifice of the Elder was undoubtedly Alfred L. Jones. Jones was the prototype of the British businessman in the Canaries who, responding to British pretensions, had economic interests in different countries all down the African coast. [...] Over time, the two structures, Elder and Miller, began to lose importance and influence [...], but are the only two buildings of these characteristics that still stand today.
