This is a rare example of sculpture in which the base, made of stone, takes as much prominence as the sculpture itself, in this case bronze. It is interesting to know the words of Juan Antonio Giraldo when he explains the development of his creations:

«My work is not intellectual. I start working and ignore the result. At times I have used pieces I had made much earlier. My workshop is populated by loose elements, which form and are born without predetermined organisation. When they come together almost randomly, they form the sculpture. I work ten or twelve hours a day without knowing what will come out. I have always worked according to Michelangelo's model, removing from the marble (in my case bronze) what is superfluous; simultaneously I am making these mother pieces, larger ones, where in due course the sculptures will be completed or perhaps never completed.»
