The Tower of San Pedro Mártir

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria · Category: Architecture · Subcategory: Military architecture

The tower of San Pedro Mártir, along the coastline at San Cristóbal, once belonged to the city's defence system. The original construction dates from 1577, and is a small, round structure made of stone with "badly laid masonary" which could be accessed from a draw bridge. Inside there was just a store and small living quarters on which the platform stood.
