Parish Archive of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción
Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Cultural spaces · Subcategory: Libraries and archives · Year: S. XVI
The Parish Archive of the church of the Concepción in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the most important on the island of Tenerife. It houses the most complete set of personal data currently available about the city's past from the 16th century, when its documentation began to be recorded, until the early 19th century, when the Municipal Archive came into operation.
Currently located next to the main entrance of the temple, this parish archive not only preserves the sacramental books of Baptisms, Weddings, Deaths, but also minutes of Brotherhoods and Confraternities, which detail lists of their members, Fabric Books, with their inventories on the history of the temple itself and everything it contains, and other varied documents of vital importance to shed light on the past of Santa Cruz.
