Pascual Ferrera House

The military officer Pascual Ferrera, administrator at the beginning of the 18th century of the water conduction works from Anaga to Santa Cruz and wealthy owner of large urban plots, built around 1723 a splendid house attached to the works that later became the Customs House.

The house must have been a building of traditional Canarian typology; main façade with large openings and pinewood windows carved in panels facing the bay and nearby cove. An extraordinary tiled roof covered the building. 

The interior was articulated through a large uncovered courtyard, where various galleries were supported by pinewood columns with their corresponding capitals. The rooms were adorned with a luxury rarely seen here: salons with paintings made to measure for the wall canvases and framed in gilded frames; large mirrors; armchairs; as well as different paintings, pictures and prints hung on the various walls. The splendour was valued at the beginning of the 18th century at 57,798 reales. A fortune indeed. 

The house was demolished in the 20th century during the urban redevelopment of that area.
