Fountain or Spout of Rambla Pulido

Santa Cruz de Tenerife · Category: Memory · Subcategory: Sites of memory · Year: 1873

In 1873 there was already a fountain or spout for public water supply in the development of what was the road to La Laguna, at the junction of the current Rambla de Pulido with Benavides street.

It was installed by the Sociedad Constructora de Edificio Urbanos, a company that at that time was urbanising that sector on the outskirts of the city. Over the years, its ownership passed to the municipality, becoming a water supply centre for the entire neighbourhood.

The fountain was very simple, with the spout protruding from a small masonry support. Over time, this spout was fitted with a tap and also a small wooden door with a lock that was closed at night to prevent unwanted expenses.
