The Paso Alto Military Sports and Sociocultural Centre is located next to the castle of the same name, between the coastline and the road leading from Santa Cruz to San Andrés.

This social club belonging to the Army occupies an area of 16,629 square metres. It has swimming pools, tennis courts, a gym, a multi-sports court, a petanque pitch and stairs providing access to the sea. Entry to the premises is restricted, as only military personnel with the rank of general officer, officer, and non-commissioned officer may access it, with all their family members also entitled to enter. 

The complex was initiated in the mid-1960s when José Héctor Vázquez was Captain General of the Canary Islands and was inaugurated by his successor, José Angosto Gómez-Castrillón, in August 1971.

The building has three floors; the two upper floors function as a residence-hotel with rooms to accommodate 72 guests; the ground floor, called the “Planta Noble” (Noble Floor), has bar services, a dining room, a social lounge and terraces.
