Housing Complex on Avenida Buenos Aires (Nos. 42-56)

This complex of eight single-family houses developed on the right-hand pavement as you go up Avenida de Buenos Aires forms a very homogeneous group with its own characteristics.   

The houses were built at the beginning of the second decade of the 20th century in the southern part of the city to accommodate the large population arriving in Santa Cruz at that time, attracted by the economic boom of port activity. 

These are houses framed within the canons of a very restrained eclecticism: façades dominated by the wavy lines of the cornices; sparse linear decoration; openings arranged in vertical axes; some floral ornamental detail on corners, etc. The wood and iron of the railings are combined in the door and window enclosures.

This area was an important part of the neighbourhood known as Cuatro Torres, which takes its name from the four tall metal installations built here in 1909 as a fundamental part of the Tenerife Radiotelegraphic Station.
